L(ove) U(ltimately) P(rotects) US

Its crazy how with all the people inflicted with diseases and other serious health conditions, it takes having your friend falling ill to make it relevant in your personal life. My friend Tiffany Peterson was diagnosed with Lupus after a strong flare on January of this year but it being, by nature a silent disease, she was told that she's had it for more than 6 years.

Although the symptoms have been known to vary from person to person here the most common symptoms:

  • Painful or swollen joints and muscle pain
  • Unexplained fever
  • Red rashes, most commonly on the face
  • Chest pain upon deep breathing
  • Unusual hair loss
  • Pale or purple fingers or toes from cold or stress
  • Sensitivity to the sun
  • Swelling in legs or around eyes
  • Mouth ulcers
  • Swollen glands
  • Extreme fatigue
Instead of just being a victim and falling into depression Tiffany took the card life dealt her and flipped it into something positive and is currently starting a non-profit organization named The Friends Against Lupus, which is meant to spread awareness of the disease and be a back-bone for any and everybody living with the disease or those that have loved ones inflicted with it. The organization is not yet official but with it Tiffany has already mobilized support for the group and even organized an army of supporters to walk for lupus.

The Walk for lupus was on Saturday, May 1st, 2010 in Riverside Park on 103rd street in Manhattan New York. Below are some pictures of the event. Anyways y'all, we can call be inspired to evoke change in other people's lives as shown by Tiffany and her unselfish efforts to spread awareness. Who knows, she may be the driving force to finding a cure. I GOT YOUR BACK TIFF!! BESOS!

Tears Al...like seriously. I don't even have words to express my gratitude. I guess "the swelling of my heart" will have to suffice. Thank you, for spreading the word about this silent but deadly disease that is affecting so many women today. Te amo.
